Equal amounts of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum are combined in Pro-Biotic Complex™ for individuals who may require high amounts of these important microorganisms. L. acidophilus is a well-research, hardy probiotic highly resistant to gastric acid,bile salts, and digestive enzymes. Possessing more than 20 peptidases, it readily breaks down casein, casein-derived polypeptides, and gluten. It hydrolyses bile salts and lowers serum cholesterol levels. L. acidophilus ferments lactose and a variety of other sugars and polysaccharides aiding digestion and lowering the pH of intestinal contents. B. bifidum is normally present in large numbers.
